Independent Weekly Cover
November 14, 2011
Above is the current cover of Independent Weekly that I illustrated. This was a fun project. The direction was very specific, but I was able to make it my own. The story is about the band Bombadil that has been through the ringer. Despite all of their setbacks they are trudging on–together.

Potty Training Before Preschool
September 27, 2011

This is a recent illustration I did for Memphis Parent Magazine. You can read the article and see the illustration in action here. The article is about potty training before your child reached preschool. The little girl in the illustration is crossing the potty training finish line (just in time).

Math Monster
January 04, 2011
This is an illustration I did right before Christmas for Memphis Parent. The article is about kids batteling math class and how tutors can help. I have always had a hate/hate relationship with math and would have loved to give it a “POW” when I was in school. This issue should be on stands soon in Shelby County. Done with painted paper collaged together.

Nashville Print
August 03, 2010
I was recently commissioned to do a “commemorative print” type of illustration to be given away at a at the National Association for Family Child Care’s 20th annual convention. They wanted the image to be fun and something that the viewer would want to hold onto. The back of the print contains info regarding several resources for parents and child care providers.

In Honor of Earth Day…
April 22, 2010
1. Grow Your Own Food
2. Use Solar Energy

3. Buy in Bulk

4. Start A Compost Pile

5. Make the Switch to CFL

These images were used in an Earth Day e-mail promo. I have been getting increasingly green in my life and thought Earth Day was a great time to spread the message. This is just a random list of 5 things, there are countless other ways to help the planet. I picked 5 that i though would make interesting illustrations. All of the illustrations are done with pieces of painted paper collaged together.

St. Lucy Portrait
March 29, 2010
I have always been interested in religious art, especially images of saints. I have often thought about making my own saint images, but never really got around to it. Recently, I had the perfect opportunity. My daughter’s baptism was approaching and I wanted to make an image for her godmother. What better image than a saint with the same name as my baby?! The story behind St. Lucy is really cool too. She was tortured and even had her eyes taken out while she was alive. She was eventually killed, but before that her eyes and sight were restored through her faith. In the image, she is holding her eyes on a little plate, but she has new ones in her head. You can see the final image and also a couple sketches I did before the finished work. The final was completed with acrylic paint on paper, cut and collaged together.

St. Lucy is the patron saint of the blind.
